Dressed very aptly in tees which had “Once Upon a Time in IPL” inscribed, the trio went all out to promote their upcoming film. The Eden Gardens are known to be thronged by fans every time there is a match held there, and this being the first match, was no different. It was the perfect platform to be seen for the promotion of a film. Akshay Kumar quipped, “We have just came here because its the beginning...the first day of the IPL. This is a different experience altogether, you will never get it watching a match anywhere.”
The city of Kolkata shares a common passion when it comes to sports. Their support to their team is immense. Cricketers from all over the world believe that they have not seen this atmosphere anywhere else.
Since Imran Khan and Sonakshi Sinha support Mumbai Indians, they were here to just enjoy the match, is what they said. Being from Mumbai, their loyalty lies towards the home team. On the other hand, Akshay Kumar believes that the best team always wins.
Imran Khan’s last outing was ‘Matru ki Bijli ka Mandola’, and it did decent business at the box office.
‘Once upon a time in Mumbai 2’ is being directed by Milan Luthria, and the director does not want to miss out on the IPL matches. On the sets back in Mumbai, a special room has been designed by the set designers. It is a fully air conditioned room with comforts of the movie theatre. It has a big plasma TV, plush recliners, pool table and refrigerator stocked with food and drinks. It is their way of de-stressing on the sets in between the shots.
This film is a sequel to ‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbai’, which was about the dark underworld, and it starred Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi, Prachi Desai and Kangana Ranaut. The film did very well at the box office. This one has Akshay Kumar, Imran Khan, Sonakshi Sinha and Sonali Bendre in the lead roles. The film is slated to release on the 8th of August 2013.
